MID 2014 MACBOOK PRO SCREEN REPLACEMENT UPDATE
I did buy the warranty coverage plan, but I'm hoping there is some update I can download to fix this, as I live in the middle of nowhere (no kidding, not even the post office delivers mail to the homes where I live, you have to travel there to pick it up) thus there is only one Apple store in my state, which is close to 6 hours away from me.

At that point I panic and start depressing the touch pad, when that doesn't work, I try depressing the on/off key which does not respond at first, but finally the screen returns to normal. When I hit the touch pad, the cursor will show up and will move, on a completely black background.

Every once in awhile, my screen will go dark. I just bought the latest and greatest 15 inch Macbook Pro with Retina Display in mid-2014. I remember reading similar posts, but thought the problem was just on older models.
